A few patients drive most of the cost - and AI can finally help us reach them

A small proportion of patients drive a large proportion of activity and costs, especially in hospitals. These typically multimorbid patients experience fragmented care, leading to poor outcomes. Yet few systems systematically identify and manage these high-risk patients at a scale that really matters.

AI offers a new way to both predict and care for high-risk patients. Whether it’s algorithms to assist traditional stratification approaches, tools that enable clinical teams to intelligently manage large caseloads, or platforms that deliver AI-enabled care in place of long NHS waiting lists, these new technologies offer the potential to transform how care is delivered.
