Doccla is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2045, in alignment with the NHS Greener NHS strategy and exceeding the UK government's 2050 net zero target.

Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our current emissions baseline, reduction targets, and the steps we are taking to get to net zero.

Planned reduction initiatives

Doccla is implementing several initiatives to achieve these ambitious targets, prioritised based on their potential impact and feasibility.

Energy Efficiency Improvements

- Transitioning to renewable energy sources for office operations
- Investing in energy-efficient equipment and lighting
- Enhancing building insulation and smart energy monitoring

Supplier Engagement & Sustainable Procurement

- Supplier Code of Conduct ensuring Net Zero-aligned procurement
- Encouraging key suppliers to set science-based emissions targets
- Preferring vendors with low-carbon and circular economy solutions

Sustainable Business Travel & Logistics

- Implementing a remote-first working policy to reduce commuting emissions
- Encouraging the use of public transport, cycling, and carpooling
- Prioritising virtual meetings to minimise business travel emissions
- Offsetting necessary travel through verified carbon offset projects

Waste & Circular Economy Initiatives

- Reducing single-use plastics in device packaging and operations
- Implementing device refurbishment and recycling programmes
- Partnering with circular economy organisations to extend product life cycles

Employee Awareness & Behavioural Change

- Conducting regular sustainability training for employees
- Introducing carbon footprint tracking for personal and business activities
- Offering green incentives such as cycle-to-work schemes

Future work & commitments

Doccla is committed to continually refining its carbon reduction strategy by:

  • Developing more accurate Scope 3 emissions tracking
  • Collaborating with NHS supply chains for joint sustainability initiatives
  • Investing in carbon removal technologies, such as reforestation and direct air capture, and offsetting programmes. As part of this, Doccla partners with Ecologi to plant a tree for every patient onboarded onto the Doccla service, actively contributing to carbon sequestration.
