Modern slavery statement

Doccla UK Limited · Financial year ending 31 December 2026

This statement sets out the steps Doccla UK Limited has taken to understand and reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. We publish it voluntarily: our turnover is below the threshold that makes a statement a legal requirement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We believe everyone working with us, and everyone we care for, should be free from exploitation.

Our business

Doccla UK Limited (company number 12206481) provides virtual wards and remote patient monitoring to NHS organisations across the UK. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. Our platform is a regulated medical device, and we are certified to ISO 27001.

Our team includes clinicians, patient support staff, engineers and central functions. Most are directly employed in the UK.

Our supply chain

Our main suppliers provide:

  • monitoring devices and electronic equipment, many of which are manufactured outside the UK
  • logistics, delivery and device refurbishment in the UK
  • warehousing and storage for our monitoring devices
  • office space and facilities services, such as cleaning and security
  • cloud hosting, software and communications services
  • professional services and temporary staff

We consider the highest risk to be in the manufacture of electronic devices, and in UK logistics, warehousing, facilities services and agency labour. These are sectors where modern slavery is known to occur.

Our policies

  • Safeguarding: our Adult and Children Safeguarding Policies treat modern slavery as a form of abuse. They help our staff recognise the signs in the patients we care for and tell them how to escalate concerns.
  • Speaking up: our Whistleblowing Policy and Freedom to Speak Up Guardian let staff raise concerns about wrongdoing, including exploitation, without fear of detriment.
  • Recruitment: we carry out right-to-work and identity checks on everyone we employ, and we pay everyone at least the Real Living Wage.
  • Procurement: our Procurement and Purchasing Policy and Third Party Management Policy require every new supplier to go through an approval process before we sign a contract.
  • Modern Slavery Policy: sets out what we expect of our staff and suppliers, and how concerns are raised and handled.

Due diligence and risk assessment

Every new supplier is reviewed before engagement. Suppliers that affect the safety or performance of our medical devices go through enhanced evaluation, including quality certification and audit rights, and are re-evaluated every year. Our supplier onboarding includes questions on modern slavery and labour practices, and contracts with higher-risk suppliers include a commitment to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Training

All patient-facing staff complete safeguarding training, which covers how to recognise and report modern slavery. All staff receive Freedom to Speak Up training.

Reporting concerns

If we suspect someone is a victim of modern slavery, we report it to the police or the local authority, and we can contact the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700. Anyone can raise a concern about Doccla or our suppliers by emailing dpo@doccla.com.

Measuring progress

We keep our approach under regular review. We look at how well our policies and supplier checks are working, take account of any concerns raised, and update this statement each year.
